Ribbon-Cutting Celebrates Revitalized Rockaway Parkway Business Corridor

October 24, 2022

The Rockaway Parkway Merchants Association (RPMA) hosted its grand opening along the Rockaway Parkway corridor with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 12th.
After several years of attempting to restore the merchant association along the Rockaway Parkway corridor, the vision is now complete. Alongside elected officials and community leaders, RPMA President Norine Medas said, “This has been a long time coming. The work done here has been a collective effort of all the merchants, volunteers and the Chamber.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place outside Sylk Cove Lounge, celebrating the important milestone in Canarsie. The program began with instrumental music by Allan Brown and an interfaith prayer.
Businesses in Canarsie like Classic Barbershop, Golden Krust, Trending Cutz Barbershop, Steph’s Cake Shop and TriniJam BK have committed to building a better future for the community where they all live, own and operate their businesses.
“Congratulations to Norine and tremendous thanks to Senator Roxanne Persaud, Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse, Assemblywoman Monique Chandler-Waterman, Randy Peers and the Brooklyn Chamber Team, 69th Precinct Clergy Council, 69th Community Council, Shoot for the Stars Foundation, The A la Mode Experience, the friends and volunteers for their continued support and commitment to our local small businesses and community,” said Calvin Sennon, Founder and CEO of TriniJam Roti Bar & Grill.
