Barren Island – A Most Self-Contained Community

Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy invites you to visit Floyd Bennett Field’s former terminal building (now the historic Ryan Visitor Center) for the second of two author talks on the history of New York’s first municipal airport and the communities that have made use of the site. Featuring a discussion with teacher and historian Miriam Sicherman, author of Brooklyn’s Barren Island: A Forgotten History, moderated by NYC tour guide Lloyd Trufelman.
