Thankful For Turkey And All The Trimmings At Annual Giveaway

November 21, 2022

There was plenty of food fit for a Thanksgiving feast at Assemblywoman Jaime Williams’ Annual Turkey Giveaway on Sunday, November 20th.  The event, in partnership with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Community Advocate Gil Cygler and District Leader Frank Seddio, was held outside the Glen Terrace parking lot, next door to the assemblywoman’s District Office, at 5318 Avenue N.

Residents braved the subnormal, cold temps while waiting on line to grab a coveted turkey.  Due to inflation and supply chain issues, turkey prices have soared this year – a 20% hike – and there’s a turkey shortage too.  But residents still have a lot to be thankful for.

Williams said, “Through generous donations of turkeys, fresh produce and side dishes, I am honored to be able to distribute food this holiday season and ensure that families and individuals have fulfilling meals on Thanksgiving, celebrating gratitude and appreciation.”

She also thanked her sponsors, including Kings Plaza Mall, Nick’s Lobster House, Millennium Development, Met Council, Marine Park Alliance, Glen Terrace Caterers and others, as well as District Manager Sue Ann Partnow, Gardy Brazela and Judy Newton.  Staff and volunteers from the Canarsie Lions, and 63rd and 69th Precincts, among others, pitched in to give out the free birds, along with fresh veggies and all the trimmings needed for a fantastic Thanksgiving meal.
