April 10, 2023

On Tuesday, April 4th, the 69th Precinct Community Council, in partnership with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, hosted a free job fair at the Hebrew Educational Society (H.E.S.), 9502 Seaview Avenue. The event was co-sponsored by State Senator Roxanne J. Persaud (SD 19), Assemblywomen Jaime Williams (AD 59) and Monique Chandler-Waterman (AD 58), Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse and the H.E.S.

As many as 60 job vendors participated in the fair for which an equally staggering number of positions were advertised. Over 1,200 applicants, many young adults, registered beforehand on Eventbrite. The at-capacity event also attracted scores of walk-ins who contributed to a continuous queue that wrapped around the block.

“What was good about it was the young people,” said Gardy Brazela, president of the 69th Precinct Community Council. “I’ve hosted as well as attended job fairs in the past and have never seen so many young people turn out. It was a huge success!”
