Marine Park residents gathered behind the Carmine Carro Community Center for the annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to remember those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks in Lower Manhattan.
Political leaders, clergy, and members of the NYPD and FDNY paused for a moment of silence for the almost 3000 lives that were lost when two planes hijacked by terrorists crashed into the World Trade Center. Assemblywoman Jaime Williams, State Senator Simcha Felder, Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse and District Leader Frank Seddio reflected on where they were that fateful day and vowed to never forget the heroes who perished that day
Boy Scout Troop 193 performed the presentation of colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Robert Mineo sang “America the Beautiful” while Rocco Gammone played guitar. Liezt Deadato sang “Ave Maria.” A moment of silence concluded the ceremony.
