East Flatbush Catholic Church Completes Renovations

June 3, 2026

Vol. 106 No. 23

Bishop Robert Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, led a Mass of Dedication on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at St. Vincent Ferrer Roman Catholic Church in East Flatbush.

The church recently completed an extensive renovation that included the sanctuary, the church walls and floors, as well as upgrades to the electrical and sound system. Additionally, two new ambos (lecterns) were built for the altar, as well as framing the original Crucifix on top of a new wooden Cross at the center of the altar wall.

“What this parish has accomplished in the renovation of this church, suggests that indeed there is room here in Flatbush for the mystery of God,” said Bishop Brennan during him homily.

Bishop Brennan sprinkled the walls of the church and congregation with holy water and anointed the walls with Sacred Chrism. The Bishop and concelebrants of the Mass, including Father Michael Bruno, Pastor and Father Chinedu Achusim, Parochial Vicar, incensed the entire church and the faithful in attendance. The Litany of Saints was sung during the special Mass.

St. Vincent Ferrer is located at 1603 Brooklyn Avenue in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. The parish was established more than 100 years ago in 1923. The dedication Mass was held on the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity.
