Sheepshead Bay – Succulent Shrimp, Lobster, Crab, Sushi, Sashimi and More at Umi Sushi & Seafood Buffet

March 13, 2023

Two huge decorative trees – one red, for love, and the other gold, for prosperity – adorn the entryway of UMI Sushi & Seafood Buffet at 3839 Nostrand Avenue. Patrons pause to take pictures under each before proceeding to the interior of the restaurant where a feast awaits. And what a feast! First for the eyes – and then for your suddenly-aroused appetite.

UMI Sushi & Seafood Buffet provides a never-ending expanse of yummy dishes. But where do you begin? Which crustacean should you take a crack at? The lobster, hot off the grill, served with a butter and garlic sauce; the spread of gigantic, succulent, snow crab legs or the mound of luscious shrimp next to it? Fortunately, you don’t have to settle for just one selection. You could have a boil combo with crab legs, shrimp and mussels, topped off with a special UMI sauce. Or you could just pick from the enormous, scrumptious buffet.

If you’re looking to enjoy a traditional hot meal, this massive one-stop eatery also serves grilled salmon, steamed or fried flounder, as well as other varieties of fish. And, believe it or not, you can also get lamb chops, steak, ribs, chicken, french fries and onion rings. Rice, grilled corn on the cob, green salad and vegetables are also available. However, if you’re the unshrinking, adventurous sort, you might appreciate the raw clams, scallops, shrimps or oysters, all served cold.

UMI Sushi & Seafood Buffet also rolls out an abundance of sashimi and – you guessed – sushi!  Crazy Tuna, Ichiban, Black Dragon, Kiss of Fire and Sunkist are just a few from their display. If you pace yourself, you can also enjoy either flan, Jell-O, ice cream or an assortment of cakes for dessert.  Dine-in customers also get free refills on fountain drinks.

Lunch is available from 11: 30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at a price of $21.99. Dinner is from 3:30 to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and until 10:30 p.m. on Friday at a cost of $39.99. On Saturday and Sunday, adults pay $39.99, all day, for a dinner feast.  And senior citizens, 65 and older, get 10% off their meal.

Umi is a bargain for kids too!  Lunch prices range from $8.99 to $10.99 and dinner from $16.99 to $18.99.

The manager, James Huang, told the Canarsie Courier that he is able to constantly provide an abundance of fresh seafood and offer reasonable prices to his customers, by dealing with multiple suppliers. “What we’re looking for is good quality but at the same time, a better price,” he said.

Credit cards are accepted at Umi Sushi & Seafood Buffet.  See Umi’s advertisement on page 20 for details on their take-out menu as well as coupons.
