On Thursday, February 10th, State Senator Roxanne Persaud’s office distributed more than 100 bags of fresh fruits, vegetables and canned goods to Canarsie residents. The SD-19 Food Distribution event took place at the senator’s office, located at 1222 East 96th Street, in partnership with The Campaign Against Hunger and Assemblywoman Jaime Williams.
Thanks to the efforts of Persaud and her staff, along with 69th Precinct Community Affairs and other volunteers, the team helped distribute hundreds of needed grab-and-go food items along with smiles to the residents of the 19th Senate District.
Many families are experiencing food insecurity due to COVID-19, but Senator Persaud is always happy to lend a helping hand to the community.
“As we have seen throughout the last couple of years, food insecurity is real and is here right in our backyard. It is my duty and pledge to help families provide proper nutrition for their children,” Persaud said. “My office will continue to assist the families of District 19, and we will proudly serve them as we pull through the hardships caused by COVID-19.”
