The annual “Pre-Mother’s Day Clothing and More Distribution for Women,” hosted by State Senator Roxanne Persaud, took place on Saturday, May 2nd, at her District Office, 1222 East 96th Street.
The event brought together Senate District 19 community — friends, families, moms — who enjoyed refreshments and clearly welcomed the morning respite. They received free shoes, clothing, jewelry, comforters, a mini makeover from a team of JCPenney stylists and a gift bag of beauty products.
The “celebration” was executed flawlessly with the assistance of numerous SD 19 volunteers. They included retired moms who distributed resource materials or took command of a booth, young ladies who filled in as ushers, NYPD Officers and Explorers, and a pride of Lions (which included Past District Governor Ozzie Torres) from various clubs within District 20 K 1.
Support was also provided by Assemblywoman Jaime Williams, Agape, Ashley Stewart (Rockaway Parkway), JCPenney, JPMorgan Chase, Millennium Development, Rainbow Shops and Shoppers World.
“I am always grateful for the opportunity to give back and support our community in meaningful ways,” Persaud stated. “Events like these are a reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together to uplift and care for one another,” she added.
