Ringing In The Holidays With The 69th Precinct Community Council

The 69th Precinct Community Council held its Annual Holiday Celebration at the Midget Squadron Yacht Club, 1490 Paerdegat Avenue North, on Friday, December 2nd, where there was plenty of good food, music and camaraderie.

Council President Gardy Brazela said the annual tradition, which is always free for the entire community, is a small token of appreciation for our cops and the community. He spoke about the Council’s accomplishments over the past year, including a huge Job Fair held last April, where over 400 people were in attendance, and a free Thanksgiving dinner held at South Shore Manor, among many other events. He also said that Volume 7 of the Council’s newsletter, detailing its accomplishments over the past two years, will be available next month.
This year, the Council awarded Clover March and Jean Robert Pierre community service awards for all of their hard work and dedicated service to the 69th Precinct.
Captain Khandakar Abdullah, commanding officer of the 69th Precinct, thanked Brazela and the Community Council for the support the group gives to his officers. “Our job is to keep you safe. It’s not only our job – it’s our passion and calling,” he said, stating that Canarsie has seen a drop in several crime categories, including shootings, over the past year. He was also proud to report a record number of gun charges this year.
