Marine Park – Grooving to the Sounds of Plastic Soul

August 10, 2026

Vol. 106 No. 33

Once again, the weather threatened to stop the music from happening in Marine Park on Wednesday, August 5th, but thanks to quick coordination, Plastic Soul was swiftly moved inside the Carmine Carro Community Center, located at 3000 Fillmore Avenue, where the band brought down the house with the soulful sounds of the 60s and 70s. This is the seventh concert in a series of Marine Park summer concerts sponsored by Assemblywoman Jaime Williams.

Plastic Soul is a fan favorite, gaining popularity throughout the years while playing in the Marine Park Summer Concert Series. Performances are always dynamic, and the band possesses amazing musical chemistry. Their selection of music was the best of the best from the 60s and 70s, including the Beatles, Billy Joel, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Sam the Sham.

It was impressive when the three guitar players – Raymond Padavano playing bass guitar and singing vocals, lead guitarist Tom Ryan, and Steven Misuraca playing rhythm guitar and band leader – played three different types of guitars to the song “Secret Agent Man,” but it sounded like one cohesive melody.

Al Tavel, talented drummer and vocalist, is also funny as he responded to Creedence Clearwater’s “Bad Moon Rising” line, “Hope you are quite prepared to die,” with, “I’m not ready to die.” The crowd was beautifully singing along but stopped to laugh aloud.

These amazing concerts are free and open to the public. Williams along with sponsors Marine Park Alliance, Kings Plaza, Nick’s Lobster’s House, Vincent R. Cervone and Associates, Marine Park Hardware, Sotheby’s International Realty and others in partnership with NYC Parks, Millennium Development and the Marine Park Community Association make these favorite summer concerts possible.

Get your cowboy hats and boots out! Wednesday, August 12th, there will be a new concert in the park, Country Western night, with a rain date of Thursday, August 13th.

Concerts are held in Marine Park every Wednesday night (with a rain date of Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn near the bocce court. Bring your friends, family, a chair, blanket and a camera to record the memories! For more information, call 718-252-2124.
