Yoga students of all levels have been taking advantage of free summer classes in Marine Park for years. Now – for the first time ever – the program has come to Canarsie Park, and the classes are gaining popularity each week.
Both yoga classes are sponsored by Assemblywoman Jaime Williams, in coordination with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein, State Senator Simcha Felder and Councilwoman Mercedes Narcisse, and are a great way to stretch your tired muscles and gain flexibility.
There’s still time to join in the fun! In Marine Park, classes, led by instructor Cathy Dews, meet at 7 p.m. on Mondays (through August 21st) at the flagpole near the Carmine Carro Community Center, 3000 Fillmore Avenue.
Known as “The Traveling Trainer,” Ruth Albright gives a lively, energetic workout on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. (through August 19th). Classes meet near the flagpole in Canarsie Park; enter the park at Seaview Avenue and East 88th Street.
Both classes are suitable for beginners and are a great way to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors!
