Flatlands – Family Fun Day Makes A Welcome Return!

Everyone had big smiles on their faces at the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Family Day on Saturday, June 25th, as families were happy to be back at what was once an annual church event that was put on hold for three years due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The event was held in the church parking lot, at 1550 Hendrickson Street, on the first official weekend of summer, where there was plenty of activities like a bounce house, rock climbing wall, water slide, water dunk tank and carnival games.  Entertainment included a DJ and a clown.  What’s a carnival without food and refreshments?  There were plenty of burgers, hot dogs and soda and, of course, goodies like cotton candy, cupcakes, popcorn and snow cones to cool off on a hot summer day.

Father Dwayne Davis, Pastor, and Msgr. John Boyle were in attendance, along with parishioners, parish staff and volunteers.  Police officers, including the Auxiliary Unit, from the 63rd, 69th and 72nd Precincts were there to show their support along with Community Affairs officers who brought along the rock wall, one of the really popular activities!
