Flatlands – Bikers Bring Toys and Joy to Girls and Boys at Local School

December 14, 2023

It was “kickstands up” time at noon on Sunday, December 10th, as The Chosen Souls Motorcycle Club of Brooklyn left the Bull’s Eye Sports Pub at 2073 Flatbush Avenue on a joint mission to deliver loads of toys to children at nearby P.S. 203 Floyd Bennett School, located at 5101 Avenue M.

Due to the pouring rain, no kickstands on the motorcycles were raised that day, but the rubber still hit the road as the group loaded toys into their cars and trucks to make deliveries so that eagerly-waiting kids and their families could share in some holiday joy.

Santa came in his sleigh, which was the Gerritsen Beach Volunteer fire truck driven by Captain Dan Ene. He shouted a jolly, “Ho, Ho, Ho” as he entered the school cafeteria and was greeted by hugs from the children.

Thanks to Parent Coordinator Mandi Findlay, 4th grade teacher Lauren Alfarano and her sister Jane Carbonaro-Arrabito, Assistant Principal Brian Sadowski, school counselor Darlene Joseph and volunteers like Chequita Best, who created the welcoming atmosphere at the school, everyone enjoyed pizza and refreshments as Santa and his helpers handed out toys to the kids as they shared in the spirit of the holidays.

It was truly a grassroots community effort to bring joy to the neighborhood and to make sure that every child had a toy this holiday season.
