Two special police officers – Thomas Podd and Ronette Benjamin – were honored at a dinner in Mill Basin last week.
Officers Podd and Benjamin are Community Affairs Officers with the 63rd Precinct and were recognized for their dedication to the community at a ceremony held at Dolce Vita Restaurant, 5811 Avenue N, on Wednesday, January 26th.
The Kings Plaza-Canarsie Kiwanis Club presented both officers with awards, thanking them for their selfless service. Commanding Officer of the 63rd Precinct, Deputy Inspector Genevieve Isom, was also in attendance.
About $600 was raised for the families of two fallen officers, Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora, who recently died in the line of duty in Harlem. The Lions Club and the owner of Dolce Vita both matched the donations, bringing the grand total to $1,800.
