Community Chess at the 69th Precinct

March 22, 2022

On Saturday, March 19th, the No Limits For Youth chess program teamed up with Michael Bolus and his Holidays With Heroes program. The two organizations produced the first Chess at the Precinct community event at the 69th Precinct. Over 75 officers and members of the community came to the precinct, located at 9720 Foster Avenue, to create new friendships and to build better relationships with each other. The idea for this collaboration is to visit different precincts across the city throughout the year and introduce the game of chess to each community.

Some of the sponsors for the event included The Cake Boss of Hoboken, NJ, Target, Dunkin’ Donuts, Amazon and Papa John’s Pizza. Invited guests that stopped by the command to wish the participants and organizers good luck included Executive Director of Millennium Development Paul Curiale, State Senator Roxanne Persaud, Assemblywoman Jaime Williams and former Executive Officer of the 69th Precinct Captain Elissa Carlies. The newly appointed Executive officer, Captain Padillo, and Commanding Officer Captain Khandakar Abdullah introduced themselves to the guests and even took in a few games with members of the community.
