BIG NEWS FOR FLOYD BENNETT FIELD!
Governor Hochul Announces $10 Million for Historic Hangars 3 & 4
A major milestone in bringing new life to one of New York City’s most extraordinary public spaces!
We’re thrilled to share that Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a $10 million investment in the restoration and reactivation of historic Hangars 3 & 4 at Floyd Bennett Field!
This significant investment brings us a major step closer to transforming these iconic buildings into vibrant, publicly accessible spaces for education, workforce development, environmental research and innovation, arts and culture, and community gathering.
Once a center of aviation innovation, Floyd Bennett Field is poised for an exciting new chapter, one that honors its remarkable history while creating new opportunities for New Yorkers to discover, explore, and connect with Jamaica Bay.
Working in partnership with the National Park Service at Gateway National Recreation Area, JBRPC is leading the vision to transform these historic hangars to be a year-round public destination. The Governor’s investment will support the first phase of adaptive reuse, helping make the spaces accessible to the public for the first time in nearly a century.
This is an exciting moment for JBRPC and for everyone who believes in the extraordinary potential of Floyd Bennett Field. We’re deeply grateful to Governor Hochul and New York State for this significant investment, and to the National Park Service and our many partners who are helping bring this ambitious vision to life.
There’s much more ahead, and we look forward to sharing the journey with you!
With gratitude and excitement,
