Bergen Beach – St. Bernard Feast Makes A Welcome Return!

July 26, 2022

Scorching heat couldn’t keep parishioners and residents from attending the St. Bernard Feast – especially since the annual event in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was put on hold during the COVID pandemic. The feast took place during an extended heat wave, from Thursday, July 21st through Sunday, July 24th, concluding with a Special Mass, celebrated by the Most Reverend Bishop Paul R. Sanchez, Auxiliary Bishop. Sunday was the hottest day of the heat wave, and as a result, the customary procession was canceled. There were plenty of other activities for attendees to enjoy, including music provided by a DJ, exciting rides, carnival games, vendors and raffles – the grand prize raffle was for an electric scooter bike! There were lots of refreshments and treats like zeppoles, cotton candy, Italian sausages and more. St. Bernard is located at East 69th Street, between Avenue U and Veterans Avenue.
