Call to Action: Canarsie Ferry Rally

July 17, 2023

It has been over 500 days since our last rally, and we are disappointed by the lack of progress from the current administration. We cannot wait and simply hope for Canarsie to be reconnected to the rest of the city through a ferry service. We must act. Join us on Sunday, July 30th, at 3 p.m. at Canarsie Pier for a rally demanding a ferry in Canarsie.

To start, let’s address a common myth: a ferry service to Canarsie is not only possible but has already existed. Historical records from the Brooklyn Public Library confirm an active service line that connected Canarsie, Bergen Beach, the Rockaways and Howard Beach in the 1900s. In this age of technological advancements, why is it taking so long to bring it back?

The Canarsie Improvement Association has gathered over 6,000 signatures, demonstrating overwhelming community support for a ferry service. We demand answers and action. There is an existing system of over 20 stops. Why have other parts of New York been connected while we are left out?

For too long, our community has suffered from limited transportation options, resulting in congestion, longer commutes and missed opportunities. We must bridge this gap and demand the connectivity we deserve. A ferry service will open doors to new possibilities, fuel economic growth and enhance our quality of life.

Join us at Canarsie Pier, overlooking the beautiful waterfront, as we unite to demand change. This rally is our moment to stand together, raise our voices and make a powerful statement. We must show decision-makers that a ferry service in Canarsie is not a luxury but an essential need for our community.

We invite all residents, community leaders, local businesses and anyone who believes in the potential of Canarsie to join us. Spread the word, bring your friends and family, and be part of this movement. Together, we can make a difference and shape the future of Canarsie. Save the date: Sunday, July 30th, 3 p.m. at Canarsie Pier. Let’s rally for a better, more connected Canarsie!
