Concertgoers appreciated the music of Cantor Shea Rubenstein and Keyboardist Tzvi on Wednesday, June 24th, at the second concert in a series of adored Marine Park summer concerts sponsored by Assemblywoman Jaime Williams.
Rubenstein sang several traditional Jewish anthems as well as some with much deeper meaning such as “Yerushalayim,” a song about a longing to return to Jerusalem. He also sang “Memories,” a ballad written by a Holocaust survivor, about the pain and heaviness of the past and loss. Tzvi did an amazing job of making the audience feel the emotions of the story Rubenstein was telling through his talented keyboarding skills.
Williams, who won the Democratic Primary for State Assembly the day before the concert, thanked the crowd for their continued support and implored everyone to continue fighting for our endearing community. “We need to stand together, no matter what political side you’re on. Remember, you’ve worked very hard for what you have, and you can’t allow someone to come and dictate to you how to live your life. You deserve the respect,” Williams said.
Williams along with sponsors Marine Park Alliance, Bical Auto Mall, Vincent R. Cervone & Associates (VRC), Michaels of Brooklyn, Tracey Real Estate and others in partnership with NYC Parks, Millennium Development and the Marine Park Community Association make these popular summer concerts possible.
Kool Elements will return to Marine Park again this year on Wednesday, July 8th, at 6:30 p.m. (with a rain date of Thursday, July 9th) for Salsa Night on the lawn near the bocce courts. Bring your friends, family, a chair, blanket and a camera to record the memories! For more information, call 718-252-2124.
