Assemblywoman Jaime Williams received a warm welcome during a Friday, June 12th visit to Masjid Aisha (Mill Basin Islamic Center), located at 5804 Avenue N, where she met with the mosque’s president, Imam, mosque leaders and members of the congregation.
The visit highlighted Williams’ longstanding relationship with the diverse communities she represents throughout southeast Brooklyn. Speaking to worshippers gathered at the mosque, Williams reflected on her years of public service and her commitment to remaining accessible to residents. She was greeted by the Mosque’s President Moshine Abbas and escorted inside.
“I’ve served this community for 10 years,” Williams said. “I look forward to continuing to work with you and with your president and everyone. If you need anything, my office is here for you.”
Williams also encouraged civic participation and thanked attendees for the opportunity to address the congregation. Her remarks were met with a warm and appreciative reception from those gathered.
Members of the congregation welcomed the assemblywoman and expressed appreciation for her outreach and engagement with residents. The atmosphere was cordial and friendly, reflecting the strong ties between local elected officials and Brooklyn’s growing Muslim community.
Masjid Aisha serves as an active place of worship and community gathering space for Muslim families in the area. In addition to hosting daily prayers, the center provides religious education, youth activities and community programs that bring together residents from the neighborhood.
Williams concluded her visit by thanking the congregation and reaffirming her commitment to working with faith-based organizations throughout the district.
The visit underscored the importance of collaboration between community leaders, elected officials and religious institutions in strengthening neighborhood ties and serving the needs of Brooklyn residents.
