A Historic Moment for Jamaica in America

The Jamaican Rising Day Parade, scheduled for August 1, 2026, will be the first parade in U.S. history solely dedicated to Jamaican heritage.

New York City, home to one of the largest Jamaican populations in the world, will host this national celebration. The event recognizes Jamaica’s global impact in education, the arts, governance, sports, business, and social change.

This effort stands on the shoulders of Caribbean pioneers, especially the incomparable visionaries, organizers, and community builders whose decades of advocacy elevated Jamaican culture onto the global stage. Their work laid the foundation for this moment, when Jamaica’s story, spirit, and strength are recognized not only in the Caribbean but as an essential part of the American narrative.

Honoring Dr. Una S.T. Clarke, CD, visionary leader, national treasure, and the first Caribbean-born woman elected to the New York City Council, whose unwavering commitment to justice, immigrant upliftment, and Caribbean empowerment made this inaugural Jamaican Rising Day Parade a reality.
