Hundreds of supporters attended the 69th Precinct Community Council’s Seventh Anniversary Banquet and Fundraiser, held at Liberty Hall Cathedral of Praise, 1387 East 96th Street, on Thursday, May 4th.
After opening prayers by several clergy members, the singing of the National Anthem and speeches by Community Council President Gardy Brazela and the precinct’s newly appointed commanding officer, Captain Jared Badillo, awards were presented to dedicated community members, clergy and NYPD.
Among some of the many honorees were Deputy Inspector Khandakar Abdullah, our former commanding officer; Captain Jared Badillo; Assistant Chief Charles McEvoy, Patrol Borough Brooklyn South; Pastor Gale Forde, 69th Precinct Clergy Council; Community Affairs Officer Sammy Maria and several members of the Auxiliary Unit.
The annual fundraiser raises funds for events that happen over the year, including a Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas Party, Toy Distribution event, Job Fair and the National Night Out Against Crime, as well as helping to sponsor local organizations such as the Canarsie Lions, Clergy Council, Canarsie Strong, and the NYPD Auxiliary and Explorer programs.
