Salsa Night: Concert in Marine Park

July 14, 2025

Vol. 105 No. 29

Although rain was in the forecast, it turned out to be a beautiful evening on Wednesday, July 9th — a perfect night for salsa music, courtesy of The Kool Element Latin Jazz Project. Dancers of all ages perfected their salsa moves and charmed onlookers with their skills. This concert was the second in a series of Marine Park summer concerts sponsored by Assemblywoman Jaime Williams.

Kool Elements had the crowd entranced with their lively and melodic sounds. This is their fourth year performing in the summer concert series. They are a seven-piece band, led by founder and Canarsie resident, Eddie Martinez, along with lead singer, Ray Montolio. The polished musicians played the congas, bongos, upright bass, saxophone/flute, piano and timbale with experience and emotion. The spectators erupted when the band played “I Like It Like That” by Pete Rodriguez.

One lucky raffle winner went home with a silver Invicta watch, and it just so happened that it was the winner’s birthday. Kool Elements, along with the audience, sang “Happy Birthday” to the excited gentleman who showed his new watch to admirers.

This talented band will play at your summer event, wedding or party. Kool Elements can perform/play a variety of music genres. If interested, call Edwin Martinez at 646-625-9471 or Gilda Vargas at 347-593-1710. Follow the band on Facebook; search Con Sabor Salsa Band.

Williams along with sponsors Marine Park Alliance, Kings Plaza, Nick’s Lobster House, Sotheby’s International Realty and others, in partnership with NYC Parks, Millennium Development and the Marine Park Community Association make these popular summer concerts possible.

Classic rock lovers get ready! The next concert will be Scott Yahney & Friends on Wednesday, July 16th, at 6:30 p.m. (with a rain date of Thursday, July 17th) on the lawn near the bocce courts. Bring your friends, family, a chair, blanket and a camera to record the memories! For more information, call 718-252-2124.
