A 45 year old man is in critical but stable condition after being shot by 69th Precinct officers on Tuesday, Jan 4th. The man was wanted for robbing the Dollar Tree on Sunday, Jan 2nd. Store employees pointing him out to officers just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. Officers a sixteen year veteran and six year veteran of the NYPD getting into a struggle with the petty larceny suspect in the vestibule as he was running out the establishment at 2125 Rockaway Parkway. He took out a 380 Caliber handgun shooting twice at officers. A third round jamming in the chamber. The 16 year old officer firing once striking the man once in the neck. Officers began performing CPR. He was removed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition. People were in the parking lot confronting the officers. An officer was seen walking away from the scene with service weapons for the Forensics Investigation Unit to process. The scene is still being processed by NYPD Crime Scene Decetives and 69 Precinct officers. The officers weren’t hurt.
