Second-grade students from P.S. 207 Elizabeth G. Leary, located at 4011 Fillmore Avenue, performed their brilliant rendition of The Jungle Book on Wednesday, May 21st.
The charming Disney play, based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling and directed by Kim Simek, tells the beloved story of Mowgli, a young boy who was raised by wolves in the jungles of India and his struggle to find his place among humans while also averting danger. The coming-of-age tale is punctuated by harrowing adventures and heartwarming friendships that make for some very exciting scenes.
The performance was superb, with impeccably executed choreography and highly engaging numbers like the popular fan favorite, “Bare Necessities,” an upbeat tune sung by Mowgli’s unlikely friend, a carefree bear named Baloo. The obvious preparation, passion and enthusiasm displayed by the student actors captivated the audience and made for a memorable interpretation of a cherished children’s tale.
