May 12th was another fun day for pre-K and 3-K students at P.S. 115 Daniel Mucatel School, 1500 East 92nd Street. In celebration of Mother’s Day, the staff hosted a Muffins With Mom event which involved the participation of the students and their “special ladies.”
Besides enjoying muffins and refreshments with their children, the “special ladies” engaged in painting and drawing in an activity titled “Home Is Where The Heart Is.” Teresa Pensabene, a teacher at the school, explained to the Canarsie Courier, “The kids all got a plain house, they colored it, got a heart, drew why their family home is special, then decorated it with their parents.”
“This project is inclusive,” added Heather Fins, another pre-K teacher, “as it provides the opportunity for the representation of all types of families.”
