There was a decent size crowd gathering on the lawn in front of the bocce courts in Marine Park on Wednesday, July 23rd, before 6:30 p.m., the concert start time, in anticipation of Plastic Soul’s return to the stage. By 7 p.m., the park was packed with a crowd of concert-goers who came to hear Plastic Soul play the hits of the 60s and 70s. This is the fourth concert in a series of Marine Park summer concerts sponsored by Assemblywoman Jaime Williams.
The crowd clapped and awed with excitement as Plastic Soul played Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising,” and they had that Beatles sound as they sang, “Eight Days a Week.” This band had the crowd singing, dancing and clapping along to the best of the oldies.
Plastic Soul had great musical chemistry which led to a dynamic performance. The band featured Raymond Padavano playing bass guitar and singing vocals, lead guitarist Jody Pepperman, Steve Misuraca playing rhythm guitar and Al Tavel, drummer and vocalist. Scott Yahney was the band’s sound man for the evening.
Two excited winners claimed their wine raffle prizes, and another winner claimed the $50 Amazon gift card donated by Sotheby’s International Realty.
These amazing concerts are free and open to the public. Williams along with sponsors Marine Park Alliance, Tracey Real Estate, Chrysalis Archeological Consultants, Sotheby’s and others in partnership with NYC Parks, Millennium Development and the Marine Park Community Association make these popular summer concerts possible.
The concerts are held in Marine Park every Wednesday night (with a rain date of Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn near the bocce courts.
