Plastic Soul took music lovers on a journey down memory lane with a musical tribute to some favorite classic rock sounds of the 60s and 70s on Thursday, July 18th. The concert was postponed from the previous evening due to forecasted rain.
This was the fourth concert in the popular Marine Park Concert series, sponsored by Assemblywoman Jaime Williams. If you missed any of these amazing concerts, there are still five more to go!
Before Plastic Soul took the stage, soloist Lizet Deadato entertained the crowd with some “Oldies But Goodies,” including Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” the Beatles’ “Here, There and Everywhere” and a tribute to Olivia Newton-John.
Members of Plastic Soul, a five-piece band including Danny Cohen (lead singer), Raymond Padavano (bass and vocals), Jody Pepperman (lead guitarist), Steve Misuraca (rhythm guitar) and Al Tavel (drummer and vocals), all hail from Brooklyn, Staten Island, Howard Beach, Queens and Long Island.
They played everything from “Born to be Wild” (Steppenwolf), “Dead Flowers” (Rolling Stones), “Eight Days a Week” (Beatles) to “Ramblin’ Man” (Allman Brothers). They even performed a country number – Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” and finished off the high-energy concert with “Secret Agent Man,” a Johnny Rivers’ song.
The Marine Park concerts are sponsored by Marine Park Alliance, Kings Plaza and Nick’s Lobster House, among others, in coordination with State Senators Simcha Felder and Roxanne Persaud, and District Leader Frank Seddio, and in partnership with Millennium Development, NYC Parks and the Marine Park Community Association.
The next concert will be held on Wednesday, July 24th, where Scott Yahney & Friends will be performing Classic Hits and more. Rain date is July 25th.
All concerts take place on the lawn near the bocce courts at 7 p.m. Bring a blanket, chair and your friends and family! For more information, call 718-252-2124.
