Members of the 61st Precinct called for backup from the NYPD’s ESU (Emergency Service Unit) around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 1st when a 58-year-old man barricaded himself in the basement of 1746 Gerritsen Avenue, between Avenue R and Nostrand Avenue. The male was taken into custody after a two-hour standoff with police.
