Amid the sounds of live steel drums playing in the background, a crowd gathered by a table by the Carmine Carro Center at Marine Park to join in on the Brooklyn Public Library’s 125th Birthday Celebration on Saturday, June 4th.
“It’s a birthday celebration, but it’s also to kick off summer reading,” a BPL representative said. “We have booklets for all ages and you’re invited to the BPL birthday party.”
The celebration will continue all summer with free giveaways, free COVID test kits, summer reading booklists and assistance with getting a library card. Nearby libraries such as the Mill Basin and Flatlands branches were also represented that day.
