Immediately following an important “Conversation with Assemblywoman Jaime Williams” regarding public safety on Wednesday, August 28th, it was time to boogie down at the final installment of the Marine Park Summer Concert Series, which was not really a concert but a Disco Night featuring DJ Scott Yahney, accompanied by DJ Ross the Boss.
“The heat was on” – and it wasn’t just the temperature, which was a scalding 90 degrees, but also on the dance floor, where residents danced to the disco beat.
Hundreds came out for the final event of the summer, which was cut a bit short due to lightning in the forecast. Disco lovers sang and danced up a storm to the top disco hits of the 70s, including favorites like “Disco Inferno,” “I Will Survive,” “Heaven Must Have Sent You,” “Last Dance” and many more.
In celebration of Assemblywoman Jaime Williams’ birthday, the crowd sang “Happy Birthday,” led by Ron Canterino, chairman of the Coalition for Better Communities. State Senator Roxanne Persaud also offered greetings to the crowd.
One lucky raffle winner won a wine-themed gift basket, compliments of Berkshire Hathaway/Fillmore Real Estate.
The Marine Park concerts (nine in total this season) are sponsored by Assemblywoman Jaime Williams, Marine Park Alliance, Kings Plaza and Nick’s Lobster House, among others, in coordination with State Senators Simcha Felder and Roxanne Persaud, and District Leader Frank Seddio, and in partnership with Millennium Development, NYC Parks and the Marine Park Community Association.
See you next summer!
