With the school year fast approaching, the Labor Day weekend provided the perfect opportunity to host a Back-to-School Block Party and backpack giveaway for lucky families who came out in large numbers to the open street celebration at Hillel Plaza located within the Flatbush Junction on Saturday.
In addition to the needed school supplies, refreshments, fun games, live music, face painting, popcorn, ice cream, giveaways, prizes and more were provided to give parents and their children a successful and fun start to the school year.
The event was organized by Councilwoman Farah Louis in partnership with community organizations, city agencies, sponsors, local businesses, staff, volunteers and others who helped make the event a great success.
