Acclaimed entertainer Don Anthony performed a special Elvis Christmas Show for a full house, in the Chandelier Room Supper Club of the Floridian Plaza Diner, at 2301 Flatbush Avenue, on Saturday evening, December 14th.
You wouldn’t believe the excitement in the room, unless you had seen it with your own eyes, as diners joined the “King of Rock and Roll” on the dance floor, where he taught patrons some of his signature moves, like the famous “hip swivel.” He sang “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” in time for the holiday, as well as hit songs, “Suspicious Minds,” “Love Me Tender,” “Return to Sender,” “All Shook Up,” “Let me Be Your Teddy Bear,” and “Always on My Mind” to the great pleasure of his audience, all of whom were absolutely entranced.
“He’s a star,” said an awestruck waiter, as he hurried past the Chandelier Room with a tray of food, while some of his coworkers had stopped to watch Anthony perform from the wings. Gina, one very small diner, who had never heard of Elvis before, and had complained when her parents announced they were taking her to the show, quickly changed her tune, as she was bopping along to the music herself after the opening song. Mario, a true Elvis fan, who had really been looking forward to the performance, came dressed for the occasion in his own Elvis-inspired attire and was invited up to the dance floor to join the fun. It certainly seemed like more of a party, than it did a show – a fantastic performance and a memorable experience patrons will not soon forget.
Don Anthony will return to the Floridian Plaza Diner as Elvis for a special Valentine’s Day show on Saturday evening, February 15th, so make your reservations early by calling (718) 377-7733.
