On Monday, November 7th, the 69th Precinct Clergy Council held its monthly Prayer Vigil on the corner of Rockaway Parkway and Glenwood Road, near the “L” train station.
The group offered supplications for world peace and also for fair elections the following day. Clergy Council President Reverend Cecil Moonsam said a special prayer for President Biden and the Nation. “We thank You, God, for our President. We thank You for Your hands upon his life. Thank You for Your wisdom and Your guidance that he will lead this nation back to You. In God we trust.” Petitions were also made on behalf of all other elected officials, the Canarsie community, youths, illicit drugs and gun violence.
The Commanding Officer of the 69th Precinct, Captain Khandakar Abdullah, attended the gathering briefly and greeted everyone.
Rev. Moonsam introduced Officer Riche, the precinct’s new Auxiliary Coordinator. “I’m very proud and excited on this new journey as your Auxiliary Coordinator. I promise to be here at all your events. I’m very excited to serve Canarsie. I’m a child of Canarsie and I can’t wait,” the South Shore High School graduate stated.
The vigil ended with the group singing and dancing to “Every Praise” by Hezekiah Walker.
