Firefighters battled an all hands house fire in a three-story brick home in Canarsie on Thursday, December 8th.
Units arrived at the attached private residence located at 982 East 88th Street, off the corner of Avenue J, around 9 a.m., where there was heavy fire spewing from the windows of the second floor.
Fire suppression units used two hose lines to contain the blaze. One resident suffered smoke inhalation but refused medical attention at the scene. The fire however displaced multiple residents and two dogs.
The blaze was placed under control by 9:55 a.m. Its cause is under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshal’s office.
