Although the weather forecast predicted rain and clouds, that didn’t stop kids on the hunt for Golden Eggs, hidden among 5,000 Easter Eggs in Canarsie Park, at State Senator Roxanne J. Persaud’s SD 19 Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 15th. The original event, which was scheduled for April 1st, was postponed due to rain.
After families signed in at registration tables and were given colored wristbands for participation in the Easter Egg Hunt, they enjoyed popcorn, candy and other snacks while being entertained by a DJ playing popular music. Kids could not contain their “egg”-citement when it was time to reveal the surprise guest, the Easter Bunny, and the kickoff of the Easter Egg Hunt!
They waited patiently until Senator Persaud completed the countdown, and then children, grouped by age, ran all over the park hunting for colored eggs. The lucky kids who found a Golden Egg were rewarded by a gift presented by Senator Persaud.
During her closing remarks, Senator Persaud thanked every participant, supporter, sponsor, volunteer and staff member who helped to make the annual event a success. And the weather held up!
