It’s unknown why an SUV jumped the curb in the Avenue U parking lot of Marine Park last week, but after crossing four lanes on Avenue U, no one was seriously injured in the freak accident.
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14th. After the driver jumped the curb, he struck a pedestrian, then crossed busy Avenue U, jumped the curb again and then came to a stop after striking a fence and guard rail along the Salt Marsh Nature Center, according to eyewitnesses at the scene.
Fortunately, there were no cars driving along Avenue U at the time, but the pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
