Valentine’s Day is a way to show others how much we care about them. One East New York resident wants to share that love with others, and she does that by transforming the seventh floor of 875 Pennsylvania Avenue into a Valentine’s delight that even Hallmark would be proud of!
Elizabeth Figueroa has been decorating her hallway at the Penn-Wortman Houses for 40 years, and she doesn’t miss a holiday! She loves spreading joy and happiness, and together, with some help from Willie Echevarria and her two grandchildren, Micaly Viard, 11, and Easton, 6, they adorned the halls with red hearts, Cupids and heartfelt messages that read, “Be My Valentine,” “You Are Sweet” and “Bear Hugs.”
With the unprecedented number of police shootings so far this year, Figueroa wanted to say “Thank You” to all the men and women of the NYPD, so she dedicated her display to police everywhere. “God Bless them always and I want to thank them for their service,” she said.
