During National Night Out Against Crime, on Tuesday, August 2nd, District 20 K 1 Lions fanned out across their communities to show support for law enforcement. They distributed anti-crime materials, health information pamphlets about COVID-19 and monkeypox, and a variety of PPE – face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer.
One of the purposes of Night Out is “to send a message to criminals letting them know that the communities are organized and are fighting back.” Night Out is also a time when law enforcement and the communities they serve come together and interact in a positive way, as they did at Canarsie Park where several Lions gathered. Brooklyn Transition Lions, Canarsie Lions, Brooklyn Metropolis Lions, Vanderveer Lions and Marine Park Lions also served food and beverages then danced the night away, surrounded by scores of police officers.
